I thought I’d be in hysterics for the eyeshadow quad (seeing the pic at the top of this thread made it look a fair bit like Empreinte du Desert). But seeing it in the “solo” pic, I’m good – nothing there to set my heart aflutter. Good thing since Chanel cosmetics are now difficult to get my mitts on.

I love the Chanel packaging and always have. I just think it looks so elegant and timeless. The Chanel brand in general, doesn’t really follow trends and remains true to its roots. Nothing here to tempt me but I wish there were. I can remember my first Chanel purchase and wish I still had the lipstick I bought. It was called Midnight Garden and was a perfect berry shade. It was back in the day and I had gone to the makeup counter to pick up something from Estee Lauder, I can’t remember what now. The Chanel counter beckoned me over and so I went. The artist asked if I had time to have my makeup done. She did a complete face on me and I left with my first purchase. Actually, I bought the blush and an eye shadow palette. I don’t remember the blush or eye shadow but that lipstick, though. I felt so swanky when I would whip out my lipstick and touch it up. I had just graduated from nursing school and was sure my life would be full of Chanel and Guerlain. I was going to be rolling in money! Clearly, I hadn’t investigated how much nurses make or how hard you had to work for that wage.

The eyeshadows are a bit too yellow for me, but a couple of the lipsticks look interesting so I’ll be watching this space for the swatches! I hope they’re not all warm-toned!
I like the nail polish too and it reminds how I haven’t been doing my nails in ages, it’s a very pretty colour to get back into it the action!

The perfume does not work for me.

I do love the iconic elegance of the scent. The colors are timeless and make for an elegant look. However, most women have plenty of black eyeshadow. I understand the inclusion but maybe another color and just a small black strip of eyeshadow.

The embossing could have been better. The perfume bottle works, but the 5 seems off. Maybe a slightly different execution or just the C Chanel logo instead.

There was a No. 5 limited edition lipstick a year or so ago. I remember buying it.

I have the Pirate lipstick. I might have an interest in the black gold gloss. We’ll see.

So, here’s the crazy thing…. I was thinking ’bout the Holidays and Chanel’s (and Dior’s) past Holiday releases (primarily eyeshadow quads/5 pans….what can I say?) and wondered if I’d missed the Chanel Holiday release for 2021. Lo and behold, I hadn’t – I did indeed see this when you posted these photos and info, Christine, but this was so “not exciting” to me that I’d actually forgot all about it. I just did the search a few minutes ago and remembered seeing this and not being enthused in the least. I guess everyone is having a down year, including the creative minds in charge of Chanel’s beauty line.
