MAC & Marcel Wanders Team Up for November
MAC & Marcel Wanders Collection
MAC & Marcel Wanders Collection
“If I have a basic motivation, it’s to inspire people to make their life a Masterpiece!” Is that not what we do every day at M·A·C? So it is that the Dutch industrial designer – known for everything from his “Happy Hour” Chandelier to his “futuresonic” way with old Delft porcelain, and for co-founding now-iconic design collective Droog AND the amusing, classicism-meets-futurism objects of his own group, Moooi (from the Dutch word for “beauty,” but with an extra “o” for extra-beautiful!) – wandered HERE…It had to be! M·A·C partners with Marcel Wanders – his first foray into the world of cosmetics – and design sophisticates (and people with innate and irreverent tastes) will be bonkers for these limited-edition Lipstick, Lip Gloss, Sheer Mystery Powder, Air of Style Scent Concentrate and his signature brush and clutch creations, not least of all for their arresting packaging – fine collectors’ items all! But also for the rich palette, inspired by 17th Century Flemish painting, and particularly Vermeer’s – “Girl With a Pearl Earring” – and the idea of an artist painting a portrait, and falling in love. “Always, with a sense of love in the product…” he says. Marcel speaks our M·A·C language.

Behind the Collection
M·A·C Cosmetics is widely recognized for its stylish, artistic, quirky and edgy collaborations whose partners run the gamut from the world of fashion and art to Hollywood and pop culture. It is no wonder that the latest partnership is with none other than legendary Dutch designer, Marcel Wanders. The two powerhouse brands are teaming up on a 2010 holiday luxe makeup collection that is bound to catch the attention of makeup addicts and design aficionados around the globe.
From hotel suites to restaurants, beach accessories to bags and furniture to bathroom designs, Marcel Wanders has put his mind, and maverick sensibility, to them all. Marcel’s design philosophy is to bring beauty to the things that we see all the time; to raise the aesthetic bar and elevate the normality of the everyday. “It’s not just about function, it’s about having something you really love and caring about the details that surround you,” says Wanders. Little wonder, then, that his latest collaboration is with iconic cult brand M·A·C Cosmetics: For what could simultaneously be more everyday and utterly personal than makeup?
“As a company I feel we have to explore every avenue of design,” explains James Gager, Senior Vice President and Creative Director, M·A·C Cosmetics, who has teamed up with many of the world’s leading trendsetters on colour collections. “When choosing M·A·C partnerships it’s important that there is an authentic synergy and similar philosophy shared between the brands. We are, after all, Make-up Art Cosmetics so there has to be a strong artistic association to feel it’s the perfect match. I’m always asking the question ‘Is it artful enough to be M·A·C?’” Well, you can’t get more artful than Marcel Wanders. Not only is he an internationally acclaimed designer, but he’s also at the pinnacle of the Dutch design movement characterized by irreverence, risk taking and innovative design solutions – all of which are aligned with M·A·C’s DNA.
Wanders was ultimately given free reign when it came to working on the package design for M·A·C’s Luxe 2010 collection. “We simply told him the products we wanted in the collection and asked him to come back to us with his vision,” confirms Gager. “I didn’t want to put restrictions on Marcel, it’s important that our collaborators approach a project from a fresh perspective.”
The results are stunningly beautiful and most certainly original. For a company whose signature packaging is all about monochrome and utilitarian cool, the M·A·C and Marcel Wanders collection retained that innate signature look with sleek black lines and tactile finish, while pushing the design boundaries as far from simple as possible. As Wanders quips, “We don’t want minimal, we want optimal!”
This maximalist aesthetic works very well for the luxurious tone of M·A·C’s limited edition luxe collection. “We wanted the collection to have a sophisticated feel and the products to have a ‘dress up’ moment,” explains Gager.
It turns out that the idea of dressing up is exactly where Wanders is coming from. Marcel always felt naturally inclined to design for women “because they add a sense of elegance to the world that few men have, and I really wanted to explore the idea of how makeup enhances this quality.” Wanders went back to his Dutch roots and the works of 17th Century Dutch Baroque painter Vermeer, famed for his iconic images of women such as “Girl With a Pearl Earring” (1665).
While the makeup itself wasn’t Wanders’ remit, the colours and textures of the collection are as decadent andsleek as the packaging. Take the smooth opaque Lipsticks and ultra light Lip Glosses – both come in shades including golden frosted champagne, hot fuchsia and vampy blackened red and the Sheer Mystery Powder, which gives skin exactly that gossamer light and flawless finish Vermeer himself was known for. Predict a stampede for the False Lashes Mascara for that untold oomph this party season.
The M·A·C and Marcel Wanders collection is more than a clever edit of what every woman desires come party season. Encased in wonderfully unique packaging with jewel-like compacts, the products reflect the edgy, high-style M·A·C aesthetic and fit perfectly within Wanders’ design dream of creating art out of common everyday items.
Q&A with Marcel Wanders
How did this collaboration with M·A·C come about?
I was talking with a journalist friend of mine about how I felt it would be interesting to work on a project with cosmetics, and I thought of M·A·C. I like to work for women – men are boring but women are exciting!
The breadth of your collaborations is amazing, ranging from crystal (Baccarat), homewards (Target), interior accessories (B&B Italia), fragrance (Cacharel), lighting (Flos), bags (Mandarina Duck) beach wear (Puma) to, of course, contemporary interior design and furniture. What was exciting to you about designing makeup?
Makeup is such a wonderful invention. Women paint themselves to be beautiful, and have done so for thousands of years. This fundamental idea, and the way that it connects to art – first women paint themselves, then the painter takes his brushes to paint her – immediately interested me.
What was your inspiration for the collaboration?
Coming from the Netherlands, Vermeer is my culture and “Girl with a Pearl Earring” in particular inspired me. He is the most important painter in the world to me – to revisit his work was fascinating. It’s such a contrast with the way we work now, which in the last few hundred years has become so mechanical. Vermeer is relevant to me because he represents the idea that there’s an interesting story to tell if you look to your world in a more poetic and loving way. Designing beauty packaging immediately made me think of the painterly connection I mentioned before. We are creating striking tools for women to paint and make themselves beautiful.
Your philosophy is “Here to create an environment of Love…Live with Passion and make our most Exciting Dreams come True”; how does this apply to your collection with M·A·C?
That statement is about everything that we do here. For this collection, it’s about how we’ve created a dream. Like a painter from the Golden Age and his passion, we today use the same tools as Vermeer did 400 years ago to create beauty. It’s a very exciting and beautiful sentiment to me – I feel it’s an elevating and uplifting idea to connect the past and the future in this way. Take the wonderfully intricate Luxe Brush; it was hand milled in Japan as a very classical way of giving lightness to objects. It gives common tools a beauty beyond their functionality.
What was your idea behind the Clutch Bag/Brush Roll?
This is the pièce de résistance and exemplifies how to take a simple and utilitarian object from the painters’ past and translate it into a glamorous modern accessory. The shape derives from how a painter would store his brushes in a textile roll, but the ribbon and stone closure turns it into something beautiful to carry. It transforms into your own personal mobile vanity set.
It’s interesting to me that there’s a fragrance in the lineup. How do you feel about this?
Beauty to me only arrives once all the senses discover it at the same time. Fragrance is a great way to make it all work together, to complete a whole vision of beauty.
Is there a common design ethos throughout all your works?
In my studio we find many different ways to connect projects. I want my work to be a family. I love them to be connected, so I do use a lot of the same design metaphors between different projects. The idea of using current technology to make objects which are completely modern, but that look back in time to when things were handcrafted before the industrial revolution.
Were you involved in the specific shade names of these products?
Yes, the names of the products themselves are steeped in Vermeer, named after the women – lovers, sisters, wives, mother – in his life. It’s important to me that every detail of the collection works together. I would love to make things that are meaningful and emotional, not just practical. To me it’s not superficial, it’s about having a deeper relationship with the things in your life other than just ‘needing’ them. The collection is based on the idea that your tools can be your jewels.

can u use pro discount?
I would doubt it, but I don’t have any more information than what’s posted here at this time, sorry!
Do you know how much the brush set would probably cost? This is my first year really getting into makeup, so I’ve never purchased from MAC’s previous holiday collections before.
I think it’s just one brush, and I’d imagine around $45-50.
It’s gonna be $75
um do the brushes magically do your makeup for you? Jeeze thats a lot.
lol i agree 🙂
Unless they change something, Pro discounts won’t apply. They haven’t with this stuff before – I kind of doubt they will this time either. I kinda wanted one of those compacts last year too! :/ But alas… It came down to, “Do I really need this? What would I do with it? Nothing? Okay… I’ll spend the money on more lipstick instead!” Haha 🙂
nope!!! usually they dont let you
I was told that i couldn’t use my discount if it was a collection done with someone. I tried on the Disney and the answer was NO:(
This is probably stupid, but how do you get a pro discount? 😛
being a pro :] hahaha
I’m so excited for this collection!
Can’t wait to see your reviews/swatches! 😀
O_O woowwwwww
What’s that thing next to the mascara? Intrigued!
it’s the solid perfume on a string
Oh, DUH. Never mind. It’s a solid perfume. Cute design. 🙂
amazing :3 the lipstick packaging reminds me of anna sui’s packaging
Do you know when you’ll get more information about this collection? Like more pictures and swatches? I love the site btw, I really appreciate how you get stuff up so fast!
I have no idea, sorry Kat!
The clutch is speaking to me. Looks cool.
I liked last years a lot better, looking back now. I wasn’t that much into MAC back then though. But this is cool too.
Last year I went crazy n purchased everything (only one mystery powder) and I used half of everything (except lap of luxury because it was repromoted with fabulous felines) and I tell u this much, I still get compliments on the lip colors. They r very nice and applying them in public with the ubber lux packaging feels good 🙂 I highly recommend these collections. (I just wasn’t a big monogram fan even though I like holograms lol) but yeah the products r worth the purchase if u want to splurge some, and a lot of people don’t like how sheer the mystery powders are but I think it’s great to set your make up and I use it with a very small paddle eyeshadow brush as a highlight on the lid and a face brush to give my neck a soft look to it so yeah lol sorry I rambled but the holiday collections are amazing 🙂
I am so excited for this! I wasn’t a MAC fanatic when the other collections were out so I’m SOOO exciteed for a LUXE.!!!!!!
Seriously MAC you need to stop! jk ;-p
I can’t keep up with all their amazing collections. I wish they would lower their prices just a bit. It’s hard for someone in college w/a child to buy so many beautiful things. Agh!
I agree. My wallet can’t keep up with all the collections they come up with! That’s how they get you; with LE items, because you go paranoid and think “If I don’t get it now, someone else will, and by the time I want it, it would be gone.” and try to justify your purchse with: “do I really need this? No, but the packaging looks good, so I guess I will get it!”
I third this comment Jeezzeeee the collections come more often than my paychecks! But that wont stop me will it? Nope. lol
Ooh I love the packaging! Can’t wait to see more pics!
now THIS is a mac collection i’m excited for!
oh my goodness.
Cannot wait for swatches, espcially of the pink lipstick. The packaging of the powder looks great! This will be my first couture collection, wasn’t into MAC before.I can only imagine the prices in Euro…But I would love to get at least one item.
None of the products interest me, but the packaging does, lol. Maybe I’ll just get the brush or the powder.
What’s to the left of the 187??
I definitely want the 187 — it’s pretty (reason enough for me, but I really do need a second one anyway!). I like the nude and red color lipstick. I think I’ll pass on the powder. For that price, I could get the Guerlain Rouge G that I’ve been lusting over forever yet never took the plunge.
I believe it’s a solid perfume.
those things do not look like musts ar all
I’m intrigued, but I’ll probably pass. I don’t really like spending the money on MAC’s regular prices, not to mention with them jacked up. Probably save it for something else 🙂
That image doesn’t really appeal to me at all, so maybe I won’t want anything from this collection, which would be a good thing. I wanted more from Fabulous Felines than I thought I would and Venomous Villains is coming up. Then, before you know it, it’ll be time for the holiday collection. It’s just too much! I love the limited edition stuff, but my bank account just can’t take it. 🙂
Pretty packaging, I can’t wait to see in person.
Are these items of a higher quality then their permanent line/LE collections? Or is the only difference the packaging? I’ve never purchased from their couture collections in the past so I am not familiar with the quality.
Eh, I don’t think so. I don’t think they add anything really to ’em.
I got a chance to try one of the lipsticks (shhh…don’t tell! loll), It was the purple-y/deep plum one and it felt light and velvet-y, but maybe just my imagination?
when are more pictures and swatches going to be up?
Probably not for awhile, but I don’t have any way of knowing until they are here 🙂
I was hoping the clutch was a brush roll. It’s cool looking but I have enough clutches.
this doesn’t look interesting to me at. all. oh well, guess i’ll spend more on fabulous felines!!
omg, this looks like a really good collection, but it’s gonna be super expensive! Do you know what the 2 things to the right of the mascara are? and is the thing to the left of the mascara a powder?
I believe they’re the perfumes!
I want the brush, haha. Would you happen to know if luxe collection brushes are hand-crafted or factory produced?
Not sure!
I think the packaging looks really cheap, tacky and plastic-y, the brush in particular, but I guess that’s just me. The products themselves doesn’t seem too unique or exciting either, so I guess I’ll skip this one completely.
I’m a totaly MAC newbie – I’ve never owned a single item from them. However, this packaging is gorgeous!
I love the compacts!
cool design of packaging , i might get the powder but this doesn’t really grab me as a collection which is a good thing as a want to see what the holiday collection brings as i may want lots from that !
This collection doesn’t appeal to me at all. Can’t believe there are no eyeshadows.
I’d be interested to see what the lipsticks are like first though.
I don’t think we get this in Ireland! I’ve never seen these luxe things in the store
Whoooaa. I usually couldn’t care less about packaging, and ignored past MAC Couture collections, but these compacts are FAB! Love!
Not worth the extra money, unless the lipglosses or lipsticks are very very nice.
Im sooo excited for this! mac rarely changes up the shapes of the packaging so this is super doper cool! they always color and putting random prints on on the outside so i really want this!
I looked like a Neanderthal seeing fire for the first time.
MY GOD HOW PRETTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HAHAHAHAHA. i know the feeling :]
I need that brush I in my life! I love the look of it
I only want the brush and the clutch.
the brush is nice!
Wow! I’m not usually drawn to the luxe collection, often tends to be all style, no substance (or as my mum would say, all fur coat, no knickers)! but I love the look of the compact and the clutch!
This collection looks exciting, but why are we seeing pics of this before A Tartan Tale that will be coming out in October? This colleciton is set for a November release, right?
I need to see the shades in A Tartan Tale so I can figure out which collection and/or items I want between these two collections.
OMGOMGOMGOMG. hmmm i think i’ll only get a lipstick and gloss LOL
The packaging looks good, but everytime MAC LE packaging are nicer it equals more expensive doesn’t it…
Not necessarily; prices change when formulas and ingredients change. The lipsticks and lipglosses are considered a luxury formula that differs from the regular lipglasses and lipsticks. They have really nice payoff and are soft and smooth on the lips. They last much longer as well. It’s the same formula they come out with their couture line every year. Stunning 🙂
I love MAC and I’m studying to be an industrial designer; this just made my day. I might have to purchase it all!
Ohhhhh, the packaging is so pretty! I love the Sheer Mystery Powder compact! Acutually, what is the powder for? Is it setting powder?
damn… just bought a 187, now it looks like I’ll be buying a second 🙂
That looks so pretty (:
gonna buy a few things. Good thing it’s in November! Ha
That’s some weeeeeeeeeeeeird packaging.
the clutch is just soo cute! and i really would liek to get the compact. its soo elegant.
i looked back at the prices from the last luxe collection and i was shocked at the cost of the powder when i converted the currency and it is most likely to be a bit more ! madness ,it would have to be very special for me to pay that amount : P
I love these special type collections..the quality is usually really really good
I LOVE this packaging. I am so excited for this to come out.
Good timing, I’m in the market for my first MAC brush, and I was going to go for a 187… I’ll most likely be picking up this 187, love it! Maybe a lipstick or powder too, but I’ll have to wait for the swatches for those.
I’d really like to see prices on this collection; especially the mascara, since you are going to have to recycle it after about two months. With all of the other fantastic things MAC is coming out with I’m glad there is very little of interest to me in this collection.
i died a little on the inside- the glee was too great and burst in my chest! 😀
i am SO excited for this, thanks for the details Christine!
will definantly be getting the brush!!!
I only like these luxe collections like every other year or so.Hated the stylistics, heard the beads fell off very easily. But ADORED the Couture,Monogram & Baroque(which I still haven’t been able to swap for).I love how the Sheer Mystery compacts every year & so much heavier & better quality than any other reg.or specialty coll.’s.It’s worth more money to me as they are so much better quality(usually metal vs.plastics).
Hey Christine, I was just wondering if I could use some of the promo pictures from temptalia. I just want to post them on my luuux.com page, to show my viewers want I want/ am getting from collections. Obviously I will give 100% credit to your site for pictures, and any other information I get from temptalia. Also, I will list temptalia.com as the source link. I will completely understand if you don’t want me to, but I figured I’d ask. 🙂
Yes, that’s fine!
i want the 187 brush, but are they of the same quality than the permanent one? because i find the 187 SE that comes with every mac holiday collection of such bad quality! the hair fall like crazy, i hate the 187 SE!
That fuchsia gloss is calling my name. Same with the nude one on the far left.
love the packaging for this colle
ction
This collection’s design has a look very much like stuff from Korean or Japan.
It does, doesn’t it? The sheer mystery powder compact packaging reminds me of Shiseido Maquillage packaging, especially their blush packaging.
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET SAINT GERMAN LIPSTICK???????
Some stores might still have it…
I hope more info. is coming after Tartan Tale about this. I’m a sucker for solid perfumes. I like the fact the lipglass seem to match the lipstick shades in this one.
Also found some names for the lip shades but no shade discriptions.
Lipgloss- Gertruyd, Mary, Aleydis, Beatrix
Lipstick- Catharina, Martha, Digna, Gesina
Yeah, I’m not including any names until descriptions come out – because to me, that’s when I know the information is accurate 🙂
This collection will be released to the top 22 MAC stores only! I am a MAC employee, so this info is legit. i got to swatch and try onthe colors at our MAC update and the lipsticks are luxurious!! The glosses have plenty of shimmer and they are not too tacky! The perfume is nice and I tried it on at 11 am and i could still smell it at 11pm!! I would say the mystery powders are very light but are great for lighter tones and highlights for darker tones.
OMG! I am relatively new to make up-but am now TRULY obsessed with it! This collection looks gorgeous! I was just drooling over the Tartan collection, which is going to launch tomorrow! I live in London-so will it launch here at the same time?? How many collections do MAC come out with?? I need to stop eating and living-just so I can save up for these ‘essentials!’ 😀
Hmmm the compact kinda reminds me of the batmobilewith all thay crazy armor lol. Cute but I can’t see myself spending money on this when I didn’t get anything from baroque boudoir and I loooved that packaging!
I am loving the lipsticks/glosses.
Do you know if this is an international release, or just US/Canada?
As far as I know, it is an international release, but the distribution may be smaller (e.g. not every store in other countries will have it – just like the U.S. has more limited distribution).
The brush looks wonderful!
I love the brush and clutch… might consider buying them
The packaging is nice, but $22 for a MAC lipstick or gloss!?!
I think this collection is more about packaging if anything else … BUT MY GOD Mac got me hooked !! I’m so buying at least one lipstick and one lipgloss !!
sooooo….this looks amazing, especially the glosses and the brush…and I do want the brush…but it is REALLY overpriced…
anyway, do you know if by any off chance these will come to Portugal?
I don’t 🙁
Christine, will this collection be online? I will be away, but really want some things from this collection! So so pretty! I can’t wait to smell the perfume!
It should be!
would want that brush so badly *-*
but soo expensive…
I have to leave it because it will not be launched in Spain >:(
i don’t like anything!!!!!!!!!!i don’t think it is sth original that i can’t find in the mac permanent collection.
AWESOME!
Don’t no … just doesn’t get me oO
Holy #$%^^. $75 for the duo fibre? That was really what I wanted but forget it!
I want the 187 so much , can’t wait
I love the packaging and I love the darkened red lipstick and the solid perfume!
I also like the brush clutch but I think the set is way overpriced. Is there something else other than that fact that it’s LE that makes this particular brush really that special?
I really like the Sheer Mystery Powder in Light Medium (so expensive!!!), the Lipgloss Beatrix and the Lipstick Gesina!
As beautiful as I think and agree it is, I can’t convince myself to drop said cash on it.
these prices are absurd! i’m not at all interested in anything in this collection but even if i was, i would never pay that much just because its a designer. the quality is still mac. what really angers me is the 187 brush price tag. 30 dollars extra just for the unique handle? shame on mac
What’s the mystery behind the powders? The compact packaging looks very Lady Gaga-esque to me!
emmm…mind if i ask? But what is Sheer Mystery Powder? is it like a highlighter…or ordinary powder…are there dupes?
This is what MAC said a few years ago: An ultra-fine, super sheer, and very sophisticated pressed powder. “Mysteriously” silky-soft in texture, glides on to give skin a velvety matte, slightly luminous and altogether flawless finish.
oh, sounds super interesting!!!
The brush is pretty but that price is waaaaaaaay too high for it
Interesting packaging, but what is the mystery ingredient in the Sheer Mystery Powder that makes it $60?
Oh my, I love that Duo Fibre Brush and Brush Clutch…
I love that brush but there is no way at all I am dropping $75 on it. Aside from that the only thing that actually interests me is the Gertruyd lipstick. The additional cost for the lipsticks isn’t that bad so I’ll check it out but the rest of the stuff seems pretty meh to me, the colors don’t seem unique or amazing.
I’m gonna skip this one, just not into it.
If I get ANYTHING it will be the Catharina Fuchsia lipstick and maybe the red-pink one…
I just have so many colors like em… Why do I feel like I need this? lmao … I seriously would just get one for packaging, and of course the two colors above mentioned are ones I wear so…
I wanted that 188-lookin’ duo fiber brush….but then I saw the $75 price tag!!! That’s way too much for me
Why in the world are the prices so high
Love the packaging and the Brush Clutch. I need to see swatches to have and opin on the colors.
I like all lipsticks and glosses . So pretty . Duo fibre brush looks great but I already have 187 so won’t be getting it.
And by the way what is Sheer Mystery Powder ?
An ultra-fine, super sheer, and very sophisticated pressed powder. “Mysteriously” silky-soft in texture, glides on to give skin a velvety matte, slightly luminous and altogether flawless finish.
Go Dutchies go! Beautiful collection.
The lipglass and the lipstick look amazing!
The packaging looks amazing, the products are noting special to me. I think I would like to get one lipstick, one lipgloss and maybe one powder mostly because of the pretty packaging. The clutch is gorgeous but so damn expensive!! But seriously, MAC needs to stop – all these collections coming out got me broke. Almost.
Does anyone know if this collection will be in any London stores? I want the clutch. Thanks. =)
The design is to die for – very much looking forward to it!
This collection is really interesting but I’m going to pass. The colors don’t seem to go well with my skintone 🙂
do we know why the pressed powders cost so much?
They have always been at this price point.
Loving the packaging of the lipstick, too bad I don’t see a color that I will be interested in.
The lipstick cases are so elegant. I’d probably get one of them just for the beautiful design. 🙂
All of the lipsticks look excellent to me and it’s too, too bad that those powders won’t suit me at all because the asymetrical shapes of those compacts look beautiful. So different.
Ouch ! USD 22 for a MAC lippie ? It better be really pretty !
$75 for a brush -___- Guess I’ll be admiring from afar.
Oooh, Beatrix looks like something I’m going to want to play with at the MAC counter. And maaaybe buy.
I really really really want the 187 LE brush. I have the Sonia Kashuk version and have no idea if it is comparable to MAC. I really don’t have the $75 price tag but I am considering treating myself.
Thanks Christine for always giving us the heads up on these collections. I love Temptalia and you do an amazing job all the time. Hugs
Thanks, Cherokee!
I new to all these mac collections but who or what does it mean when mac teams up with Marcel wanders? Dumb question
They collaborated together to create the collection 🙂
availability says MAC stores..does this mean it will not be available at any counters?
Yes, typically the holiday luxe collection is just at freestanding and PRO stores, but it should also be online.
Sheer Mystery Powder, in medium plus. Well will it suit with a NC 44-45? We talked a little bit on this collection with the French Mac pro (MAC Pro, rue des st-pères for those who want to come in Paris for christmas holidays) MUA today, and we don’t know if it will suit. I hope. Maybe as a highlighter. I don’t know. Then the brush, the brush, the brush…. It is pricey but this brush is WONDERFUL. So only the duo fibre brush will be proposed? If so, I can wait and will purchase this brush instead of purchasing the classic duo fibres 187. Big kisses from Paris….
It’ll probably be a bit on the lighter side.
I love the packaging so much. I want to buy so much of it!
beautiful packaging! what is the mystery powder though?
Description from a few years ago: An ultra-fine, super sheer, and very sophisticated pressed powder. “Mysteriously” silky-soft in texture, glides on to give skin a velvety matte, slightly luminous and altogether flawless finish.
Gorgeous, but…really…no.
The lipsticks! Love!
Can you back 2 mac for the lipsticks?
I would doubt it, since they are specially packaged.
I will have to see swatches before deciding what to get…
I feel like the collections are getting tackier in recent years.. packaging seems cheap to me :(:( clutch looks nice, though!
oh my! love the packaging! I’ll probably get one lipstick and one lip gloss just for that! I’m thinking Aleydis and Gesina…
the thing is I am totally in love with the clutch and want it badly! but I know I shouldn’t spend that much on something I don’t need! I so would but Ive been getting lectures on saving my money lately so I’m trying to stay strong! BOO!
sad that nothing except one lipgloss (that I can most likely pass) interests me. :T Why not come out with some nicer lipstick shades.. well, I saved a lot of money on this one.
I’m going to skip this collection. The black plastic stragely reminds me of anna sui packaging and it honestly doesn’t look all that impressive in terms of colour options either.
Fuchsia is my favorite lip colour. So I really want the lipstick and lipgloss. The bottles are so pretty! However with MAC also releasing Tartan Tale part 2 around the same time I don’t know if I’ll be able to afford all that…Luckely it’s my B-Day soon so I can ask for a ton of gift cards from the store that sells MAC :P.
The only things I’m liking are the lipsticks and that peachyish nude gloss. The clutch looks good, but no way $75 for that and the brush. I could get 2-3 brushes for that price, lol.
$60 for the mystery powder?! What exactly is it?!
Its too expensive to buy a lot of products, but I do defenitely consider the Beatrix lipstick. :’D Cuz I’m Dutch, Marcel Wanders is Dutch and our Queen’s name is Beatrix. Yeah. Like it. Too bad there’s no lipstick named ‘Máximá’ (the princess) because (I think) most people like her better.
What is sheer mystery powder?? Is that duo fibre the 188? That brush is gorgeous!! But $75…
“An ultra-fine, super sheer, and very sophisticated pressed powder. “Mysteriously” silky-soft in texture, glides on to give skin a velvety matte, slightly luminous and altogether flawless finish.”
Not sure about the brush yet.
I love all of the lipsticks (except the gold one).
Very pretty.
Ugh why not the dark secret Mystery Powder?
Gesina lipstick is calling my name! I’m really pale (NW15) and I love how reds look with my skintone!
I did see the actual packaging a couple of weeks ago when I visited my MAC store.
The packaging looks cheap.
Does anyone realize it is made of plastic? Yes it is plastic. And the samples that I saw has tiny scratches every where on them.
Imaging Anna Sui packaging. It is not exactly the same, but it is something like that.
I will skip this collection.
First I thought I would get the whole collection, but after seeing the actual things, i have to say it is “OVERPRICED”
The lipsticks are not beautiful at all after I swatched.
I love the packaging! Might buy a lippie just because of it.
This collection is amazing but I thought about passing this collection until I saw the promo pics. The mascara is the only thing that’s coming home to me.
This collection is amazing but too expensive for my pockets.
Ridiculously overpriced. Screw…and…that.
Holy cow, the brush is so amazing.. but it’s $75… yikes.
I have never bought anything from the “luxe” collection i guess this will be my first time. I think ill limit myself to 3 items 🙂 i love the packaging its so different.
For those who are wondering which Duo Fibre Brush it is in that pic, it’s the 187 Duo Fibre Brush.
the brush looks gorgeous!
Does any one know if the mystery powder going to come with a refill as well?
Yes.
