ColourPop Welcome Foolish Mortals Palette Review & Swatches
Welcome Foolish Mortals
ColourPop Welcome Foolish Mortals 15-Pan Shadow Palette ($24.00 for 0.53 oz.) is a new, limited edition 15-pan palette that included a mix of more subdued, grayish, and even cooler-toned hues. It contained two glitters, five shimmers, two sparkle-mattes, and six mattes as far as finishes went. The quality was comparable with past ColourPop eyeshadow releases: pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing with matte shades having some powderiness.

The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Now this is an interesting release. I am assuming by the names and title that this is a Halloween release so one might expect the usual orange/purple/black theme but this went in a completely different direction. Nary a pink/red/orange shade in the bunch. I do like the color story and it has the usual ColourPop quality so if I were buying larger palettes again, I would be interested. There are a couple of shades that I wish were singles such as Ballroom Ghosts, Ghost Host and The Brides. I like bright toned neutral shades.
I just love the color story so picked it up as soon as it released. I haven’t bought most of the recent CP releases, primarily because of the repetitive, warm color stories. This muted, cooler palette was a no-brainer purchase for me, especially since I get along with CP’s formula. Glad it got a great review, too.
Pressed (PET) glitter? I have no use for that, ColourPop! I’m not too tempted by this color story but add me to the list of people who wish they’d keep those glitters separate and out of their palettes.
I want to be on that list!
I was tempted by this, mostly for the cooler tones, but I refuse to buy any palette that contains plastic glitter.
Oh, yesssss! I’d like to be on that list also!
Such an amazing, beautiful and unique color story from ColourPop!
Catch is, I won’t be buying it because: 1.) Two PET glitters, 2.) Far too spiritistic for me. I’m guessing that some may be asking: “Wait a minute, didn’t she just buy Nomad Cosmetics Ghost Town USA?” Yes, I did indeed. That’s because I viewed it more as a reminiscence of the Old West with its bustling towns that were abandoned during the Gold Rush when a newer, better spot was found, and also because it has several shades named after historical women who broke out against the social constraints of their time. I see nothing “spooky” or spiritistic (at least overtly) about it.
That’s the take I also have on Ghost Town USA.
And I will not, ever buy a palette that include PET glitter.
I don’t mind the theme, and would have thought seriously about getting this palette, but no PET glitters for me.
Oh, I absolutely respect your reason, too spiritistic, not to get this.
I felt the same as you, Nancy, when I first read through the names. When I went back and looked I really only had two that bothered me and those were Seance Circle and Psychic Medium although the last isn’t really a bother when I thought about it. The ghost names don’t bother me and neither does the cemetery reference as I quite like looking through cemeteries., LOL. For me personally, I had to give myself a reality check because I have purchased products before with pretty highly sexualized names and so I decided that if I was going to buy a large palette, I would be okay with purchasing this but I am really going hard at smaller palettes. Hope you are feeling better?
I’m not a fan of this palette – lots of similar matte greyish shades for my liking. Ballroom Ghosts was the only original kind of shade here – plus it contains a PET glitter one.
It’s really pretty, but I probably don’t need it. I’d rather get the Super Shock Shadows instead I think!
I am so intrigued by these colors, but my word do I ever wish that Colourpop would drop the PET glitter already. I hate it. (I know hate is a strong word, but I really do). I really have to think about wether I want to spend money on a palette with so much glitter in it. C’mon, Colourpop- do a one shade glitter topper if you must, but leave it out of the rest of the shades. Not good for your eyes or the planet. Jeeze.
I actually really like this one (though I could do without the pressed glitter). They need to do more cool palettes like this one.
